Before toolbars, we used shortcut keys to navigate thru Microsoft applications. While the toolbars are nice to have, they take more time than using a shortcut key.
Rather than list all the shortcut keys, I will list the shortcuts that I use. Add a few of these to your repertoire and you’ll increase your speed in excel.
For each of these hold the Ctrl key and the key shown at the same time. (You don’t need to click or hold down the “+” key.)
CTRL+9 Hides selected rows
CTRL+0 Hides selected columns
CTRL+A Selects the entire worksheet
CTRL+B Bold
CTRL+C Copy
CTRL+F Find
CTRL+G Go to
CTRL+H Replace
CTRL+I Italics
CTRL+P Print
CTRL+S Save
CTRL+V Paste
For each of these, select the function key:
F2 Edit within the cell
F4 Repeats the last command
F5 Go to
F7 Spell check
F9 Manual calculation
