Create a drop down selection list in Excel

Photobucket

A question from Chris Murphy:

Could you please show me how to set up excel with drop down choice’s per cell?

Absolutely - here are step by step instructions on how to create an excel drop down list.

Step 1 - Type the list that you want to appear in the drop down  (I usually do this in Column A, ~row 500)

Step 2 -

  • Put your mouse in the cell where you would like the drop down to appear
  • Go to the menu and select Data, then Validation

Step 3 - On the Data Validation Menu, Select List

Step 4 -  On the Data Validation Menu, Select Source

Step 5 - Highlight the list that you typed in Step 1, and click the select range key

Step 6 - click OK

Now you have a drop down that looks like this:

I hope this works for you, let me know if you have any questions. - Sandi
