Matching Colors in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word

When neatness counts, you’ll need to make sure that colors match.

Eyeballing it works for amatuers … I have an easier way with SnagIt.

After selecting the image with the color that you need to match, use the eyedropper tool to get the RGB values.

Then, in PowerPoint, Excel or Word, you can add this color to the color palate.

In PowerPoint:

  • On the Drawing Toolbar, select the paint bucket
  • Then select More Fill Colors …

  • On the Colors menu, click the Custom tab
  • Type the RGB values that you found in SnagIT into the spaces

Adding custom colors to Excel is less straight forward.

  • In the Tools menu, click Options…

  • In the Options menu, click the Color tab
  • Select a color that you will no longer need (you only get to use 40 colors in excel)
  • Click Modify

Photobucket

  • On the Colors menu, click the Custom tab
  • Type the RGB values that you found in SnagIT into the spaces

In Word, you can change the font color by:

  • On the font drop down, click More Colors…

Photobucket

  • On the Colors menu, click the Custom tab
  • Type the RGB values that you found in SnagIT into the spaces

It’s that simple!
