I checked Google Hot Trends yesterday morning at about 8am MST. Hot Trends displays the top searches of the past hour. These trends made me smile … they just felt right for the morning of the 4th of July. Go Team USA!

When you click on any of the links, Google directs you to their Lab, where Google Trends reveals a chart showing how often a particular search term is entered relative the total search volume. It also reveals related searches, news articles and blog posts. (I’ve noticed that Spam bloggers are quickly posting all of the hot trends words in their blogs with no real content. This makes it harder to find the sites that users really want to see. GRRR!)
Google Hot Trends is a great way to keep up on the news. It’s surprising what turns up in the top 10 list. Hot Trends can be installed as an iGoogle Gadget. See my post this morning on how to set up iGoogle.
