This video is great parody on requirements gathering and implementation . The video is about marketing but also applies to software releases and business planning. A simple idea or improvement that should take a very short time to implement, sometimes takes on a life of its own. What you end up with is a finished product that isn’t useful.
When I worked in the IT department at Level 3, we used to call this phenomenon “The Perfect being the enemy of the Good.” It meant that the harder we tried to be perfect, the less likely we were to come up with a product that was any good.
Please try your best to squash this type of planning behavior. It not only drains resources, but also hurts morale.
