One of the reasons that we convert MS Word files to pdf’s before sending is because they contain metadata that we’d rather not send to a third party.

There is another solution. Doc Scrubber is freeware available from Snapfiles that …
allows you to view and optionally remove the hidden information contained in Microsoft .doc files. The information contains your registered name, editing time, revision information with names of users that have edited the file and more. While this information can be very useful for internal purpose, it may not be appropriate for distribution, so this little program allows you to scrub the file(s) and output a clean copy, or overwrite the originals.
