iContact vs. Feedburner

You would think that after Google spent $100M on Feedburner  performance would improve.  But if you thought that, you would be W.R.O.N.G.  Feedburner has become increasingly unreliable.  Sometimes Feedburner doesn’t send feeds to recently published blogs and sometimes it re-sends old feeds.  The worst part is that you have no control and no support other than the classic Google forum.

If RSS feeds are important to you and your business, you are probably already looking for an alternative. I found a paid service called iContact.  For just $9.95 per month, iContact puts you in control of email marketing services associated with your blog or website.  Having subscribers is valuable, and being at Feedburner’s mercy is extremely frustrating.

iContact has additional features, that Feedburner doesn’t offer:

  • Survey Tool
  • Autoresponder Tool
  • RSS feeds
  • Blogging tool
  • Full service care for managing bounces and unsubscribes
  • Email templates
  • Comprehensive tracking and statistics
It’s a hassle to change, but if Feedburner doesn’t get its act together, serious bloggers will need a more robust solution.   And if you are skeptical, iContact offers a free 15 day trial.
Check out their video overview and let me know what you think.
