Blogging is a hobby for most bloggers. But some see it as a business.
Making money blogging is like making money playing sports. You are doing something that you love, and then you get paid. 99.999999999% don’t get paid like pro-athletes, but maybe someday ….
Google Adsense is an easy choice for most bloggers. You don’t have to do anything other than post Google’s HTML code on your site and watch the dollars come in when someone clicks on an advertisement on your site. In case you’re wondering how much … I can’t tell you because it violates Google’s terms and conditions. But I will say, that if I used every penny to buy lunch, I wouldn’t have much change left over.
Another option is to use a site like Paying Post.
Paying Post lists opportunities for blogs on their bulletin board. Registered bloggers just reserve the opportunity, write a unique post, and then get paid. Advertisers like this arrangement because they generate word of mouth and links.
Why are links important to advertiser’s? Google uses an algorythm when choosing which websites appear on their first search results page. The algorythm is largely based on how many sites link to your site. The more links you have, the more important Google thinks you are.
When an advertiser is looking for long term results, they pay bloggers to write about their product or service. Bloggers aren’t obligated to give positive reviews. I liken it to the free Birkin bag, that is given to a celebrity. Birkin hopes that the celebrity will carry the bag and generate a buzz. It’s the same with paid posts. Bloggers choose posts on a topic that they would generally write about anyway. Then they review the advertiser’s product or service.
