Fill Blank Excel Cells with the Value from the Cell Directly Above

Have you ever copied a pivot table and had blank cells that needed to be filled in with the data from the cell above.  You can easily fill these cells with the following

Step 1: Select the range, Click Edit > Go To > Special > Select Blanks, click OK
Step 2: Click [=], [↑], [CTRL]+[Enter]

This will fill all of the blank cells with the value from the cell above

Illustrated:

  • Highlight the range
  • Select Edit > Go To

  • Click ↑ (the up arrow)
  • hold [CTRL] and [Enter] at the same time
