Happy Dyngus Day

By: Tamara Gaffney

I am not Polish, but I was born and raised in Buffalo, steeped in Polish tradition. On my way in to work this morning I heard the happy little jingle of a text message on my “Zayo leash” (aka blackberry). It was my mom wishing me a Happy Dyngus Day! What is that? Well, if you Google it you’ll readily find the official Buffalo website for it: http://www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com/. It always falls on the first Monday following Easter and hosts a myriad of festivities for those who are Polish or just want to be for the sake of another party.

Anyway – whatever your Ethnic background may be, I wish you a Happy Dyngus Day!
