Twitter Over Capacity Error

I read Rob Hagen’s post “Anyone Use Twitter?” and it occurred to me that I have an account and only tweeted once.

I had a tweet all ready to go … exciting news (sc).  ”Going to pick up my son at baseball practice”   I logged in, typed my tweet and was thrawted by a happy whale being pulled from the sea by 8 red birds flying haphazardly in different directions.

I’m not sure who designed the graphic but it sends a strange message.  I am assuming that the whale represents customers and the birds flying willy nilly represent Twitter.  Is the underling message that Twitter doesn’t have its act together, but you are better off in the ocean than wherever those red birds plan to take you?  Or is the message simply - “Twitter plans to leave you high and dry?”

And on a more serious note …  Over capacity?  How many Tweets does it take to send twitter into an outtage situation.  (Hey ZB - you should be calling to sell them bandwidth)

  1. You made some decent points there. I looked on the internet for the issue and found most individuals will go along with your website.

  2. Twitter performance degrades so frequently that the fail whale has become a bit of a cult icon. People have actually tattooed this thing on themselves. Here’s a good history article of the fail whale

Don’t let it stop you from tweeting!!!
