My daughter is a Junior in High School and my son is a 7th Grader. Chloe is playing softball and has joined every club/volunteer group under the sun! Billy is playing on 2 football teams. But more than the crazy schedules … after a summer of correcting vocabulary, the slang is back in full force and making us crazy …
- Cattywampus - crazy, chaotic, awry, out of sorts
- Chillax - Hanging out chilling and relaxing
- Chizzlin - Chilling
- Don’t Hate - Don’t make fun of me
- Let’s Bounce - Let’s Leave
- Nasty - Excellent
- Recognize - show respect
- Sick- Excellent
- Woot - wahoo! yay! (But Robert Head pointed out that it’s stolen from Dungeons and Dragons … ”w00t” was originally a truncated expression common among players of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing game for “Wow, loot!” <– wait til I tell Chloe!
On a positive note, Chloe was just assigned Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales in Middle English. So, starting this week her vocab will need to include these, and another 500 obscure Middle English word (Ha!)
