I’m sure most of you have heard about the students shot at Deer Creek Middle School yesterday. It’s so frightening to picture 7th and 8th graders facing a gunman. Fortunately Dr. David Benke, a math teacher, was working the parking lot and tackled the shooter before he could harm any more students.
Shortly after the shooting, James Joseph Lenkiewicz (Chatfield High School) launched a Facebook page, “Dr. Benke Is A Hero!!!!”. As of this writing there are 19,114 members and growing. If you have a minute, join and let Dr. Benke know how much we appreciate his heroic actions!
